BAD SANTA AT WORK!
This is not the kind of news we like to hear about, especially around the holidays when there is supposed to be "Peace on Earth and Good Will to All."
The bad guys are hard at work trying to find ways to take what you have, and they don't care if they hurt you in the process. How many times have the residents of Eagle Palms heard me say this. Many of you still refuse to get involvwed and be active in our Neighborhood Watch Program.
Well, here's a little blurb that may help those that aren't interested change their minds and decide to help.
On December 23rd at approximately 2:45pm I received a call from our zone deputy that he was involved in investigating an attempted break-in and possible burglery in Phase II.
I drove over to Phase II with the deputy in tow to interview the victim who stated he heard a noise at his sliding door. [DID YOU HEAR ME? THE OWNER WAS AT HOME.] He ran to the kitchen and grabbed a butcher knife which he banged on the door as a black male wearing a hooded sweat was attempting to break the lock on the slider. The owner then called 911 which was a very smart thing to do.
Fortunately for the intended victim, these actions and the potential for confrontation scared the would be perpetrater and he bolted. At this time we don't know if this was just a burglery attempt or possibly an attempt at a home invasion of some sort. The individual was in all black indicating he did not want to be identified.
The intended victim was very lucky. Will you also be this fortunate? GET INVOLVED! NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH WORKS! We need block captains in Phase II.
OUR BAD SANTA STRIKES AGAIN
Well, I guess this time I really am at a loss for words. This time some of you might be very upset at the things I have to say, and think I am overly self rightious or worse yet a busy body who just doesn't know when to quit harping at others.
Over and over again I have tried to help our Eagle Palms community and residents understand that we unfortunately do live in a world where very few few seem to care enough to make an honest effort to come out of their own little worlds and help make our little community a better and safer place to live. I was nearly beside myself when only 12 residents came to our last Neighborhood Watch meeting in November, and really upset at the lack of response I received when I asked for Block Captains in Phase II.
All of the effort that has been put into making Neighborhood Watch for the benefit of our community seems to fall on deaf ears, that is until those who care so little also become the victim.
Thats when they expect everyone else to care about what happened to them and THEY become the self rightious until they lose the fear of having been vicimized by someone else who also cares very little about others.
On December 29th not more than a week after the event I last wrote about regarding the attempted break in and foiled burglery in Phase II, our BAD SANTA struck again.
It was again in the middle of the afternoon but this time the perpetrator did his worse by smashing in the front door and making off with a variety of electroncs including a 52 inch flat TV. Nobody saw or heard anything, and of course nothing was reported until the residents returned home and received the shock of their lives when they discovered the damage to their home and the theft of items these folks worked very hard for.
Where was our Neighborhood Watch? Where were our neighbors who obviously didn't take the time to notice someone carrying out a 52 inch TV or a truck that didn't belong in our community? What kind of community do we live in that we don't even take an interest in getting to know the family that lives just on the other side of a concrete wall and is the only thing that seperates us from them?
You don't know how many times I have heard residents tell me "I am just too busy to get involved" or worse yet "why should I worry about something that doesn't even concern me".
This is not the only time this sot of thing has happened in our Eagle Palms community. The one thing that IS consistant however, that very few seem to be willing to come forward and help. One thing I can tell you, is I don't understand,. I don't understand the lack of interest or willingness to care about our neighborhood and fellow homeowners. I admit that I am really discouraged. I have taken alot of abuse for trying to help my neighbors, and I'm not even sure why I have done this. I don't get paid one nickel for the abuse or effort I put into this program. ANYONE WANT THE JOB?
